Disappointed and and upset, unhelpfull and they cant do their job!!

My story,

Starts off with lightning hitting my house, which took out a couple of items but I was only concerned about my oven as it is an expensive item. I proceeded to log a claim with Standard Bank. An Assessor came out and filed his report. After a week of waiting with no feedback I called in to find out what was happening with the claim . Standard Bank then informed me the claim was rejected due to the damage being caused over a long period of time. I completely disagreed with the report as the oven was completely fine until the lightning strike. I disputed the claim and was told by them I could get my own electrician out to asses the damage and file a report, which I did - the electrician could see it was lightning damage and that the oven could not be fixed.

I sent the documentation through to Standard bank and after many, many days of constantly calling and each time being told the claim is with management and the consultant would all me back, I would wait hoping to receive a call back, but never did. After a month and a half of this getting nowhere I discovered I was also insured by Dial Direct. I put my claim through to them and two days later they paid me out. "Please take note STANDARD BANK" I then phoned Standard Bank to cancel the claim and proceeded to cancel my policy with them as well. After getting all the required documents from Dial Direct and sending them to Standard Bank immediately, I finally got the policy cancelled.

I asked Standard Bank to transfer the funds into my Absa account and not my bond account. I received a mail back stating that there is still a open claim for lightning damage (I had already cancelled that claim!) and that I would not be receiving the refund.

I rep**** stating that I had closed it but the consultant "Matheatse, Ronelle R" decided not to respond any further. I phoned the claims department again stating the situation, they told me I had to cancel the claim again and that I would receive a letter of confirmation from Management as they had to cancel the claim. I received the letter later that day and emailed "Matheatse, Ronelle R" again with the letter attached asking her to proceed with the refund. NO RESPONSE AGAIN . I phoned the claims department again just to find out the claim was still OPEN. I explained the situation again to them, the consultant I spoke to said she could close it but needed to confirm with management and that it wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes and that she promised to call me back in 15 minutes time...... GUESS WHAT ..... NO CALL.

I emailed the ********** with my problems and got no response.

I am exhausted, I am upset and all I can see is Standard Bank using delay tactics and find any excuse NOT to pay, whether it be for the oven when I first put the claim through or now that I cancelled and need to get reimbursed for the premiums.

I am very disappointed Standard Bank
