Conned of deceased policy claim
If you have a funeral Policy with Standard bank forget it, you will never get it. I haven’t witnessed such a dreadful treatment from one of top banks to a grieving family. All I have witnessed is a day light **** from what is purported ‘authorized financial provider’.
My mother in law passed on, on December 15. Only on the 18th of December I could access the court to get a Letter of Authority and help in naming one of daughters to be the beneficiary. On 19 December we had all paperwork done and the standard bank told us the money will be transferred to the daughter’s account by Friday 22nd or Tuesday 27th the latest because of many holidays in between.
When nothing came on Tuesday we went back to the branch for help on Wednesday 27th, the call centre told us the account of the recipient had problem so the money bounced (They didn’t make an effort to notify us). They advised us to open an alternative account with them, and the money will appear immediately. We agreed on that. In 30 minutes we had opened the account, the branch helped us to call the centre again. As we called the centre they told us that they had already done a manual payment to the initial account (ABSA) which they told us it had rejected the funds. They told us the money would be in our account by 7pm or early hours on Thursday 28th. We had no say but to accept whatever they told us. When nothing came I had to go alone on Thursday 28th, since the daughter (beneficiary) is on a wheel chair and it’s a mission to transport her, I was put through to a call centre and I was told to leave my number because the person dealing with my claim whose name is Neo is busy with another client. They told me he was to call back, but he never did until they had closed on that day. On Friday 29th I went back, I was assisted to call, and their funerals call centre department was off for holidays, but the department calls were transferred to the insurance claims call centre. Neo wasn’t there of cause. So they took my details again but this time I requested for the proof of payment. and they told me that only the person who was dealing with my claim can provide that, they will call him to email to us. 02 January 2024, I had to get the daughter to go back, but this time she went to ABSA to check If her account had a problem before going to Standard Bank. The account was fine. They told her Neo was busy but he will call in an hour’s time. She then left, I had to call 3 times. 7 minutes and got cut without speaking, about 16 minutes and got cut without help, then 32 minutes. We couldn’t get to Neo, I was told payment was done manually, when I asked for POP again I was told to send a bank statement to prove that money was not paid.
Who in this world could stay with a corpse for 3 weeks chasing R20 000? We are a family that cannot even afford chicken feet the whole month! Yet the Standard Bank funeral insurance Pyramid scheme is tossing us from pillar to post? Do they even deserve a single star? The poor lady took a funeral plan about 12 years ago or more, and the ****mer standard bank is enjoying the pain they are inflicting in this family!
My voice is too shallow to be heard, otherwise every one who has their funeral policy with standard bank must unsubscribe before their children realise they were conned. Until now we have nothing.
