Claim still unpaid and complaint not resolved.

Good morning Kisten,

I am not satisfied to finalise my claim on the basis provided by the closure of my complaint.

The assessor you appointed (Thabo) doesn’t take my calls since I refused to use the electrician from Krugersdorp. Since you closed my complaint you have only confirmed that you offered a lack of customer service and apologised for the inconvenience which does not put me in the position I was in before the damage occurred to my property.

I am once again taking this matter up with you:

1. Electrical Cables - Agreed 2. Shade Ports - Agreed 3. Assess the damage to the water pipes and the fact that the water tank melted from the rising heat - No agreement 4. Damage to washing lines - No agreement 5. Damage to fence as per the photos attached - No agreement

I need you to properly assess the damage and finalise my claim. All relevant evidence has been provided previously and I again attached the photos to this mail.

Please urgently contact me.

S Louw

Reviewer Update
Good morning Terral,

Firstly let me start with saying (and make very clear) that I do not accept your decision. You have wasted another 2 weeks of my time to respond with exactly the same reply that you’ve given me before and without considering what I’ve asked your to review.

I have already gone to the trouble of getting quotes and do not see the point of obtaining revised quotes for the damage I have claimed for. As stated before the damaged items claimed for under this policy are:

Electricity/Electrical wires - Essential part of my covered contents
Water pipes - Essential part of my covered contents
Jojo Water tank - Essential part of my covered contents.
Wooden fence
Washing line
Shade ports

All of these items have been damaged beyond repair. If you are able to point me towards anyone who are able to REPAIR any of these items with the existing material please do advise me of who I need to contact. Not only would it be astonishing but it I would be more than happy for the miracle worker to show me how it is done.

I have had to replace the water tank and the water my pipes at my own expense simply to have running water at my property. The damaged tank which melted from the heat of the fire that burned literally everything on my property apart from my house is still at my premises which you are more than welcome to inspect.

From you response it appears that you believe I am claiming for the betterment of my property and therefore I am putting in a ********** claim? I have comp**** with all your steps in submitting my claim and also attached the photographic evidence again.

You need to realise that I am the paying customer and stop believing that you are doing me a favour by replying to an e-mail or reviewing my claim (which you have also failed to do). The way you have handled this claim is disgraceful and I will not be wasting more of my time asking you to treat me fairly.

You state in your e-mail that "we will repair, re-instate or pay fair compensation, the policy does not cover betterment and our liability”. Your duty as my insurer whom I pay each and every month is to put me in the same position I was in before the damage occurred, which is all I am asking and within the terms of the policy. I AM NOT CLAIMING FOR ANY BETTERMENT OF ANY ITEMS.

You have dragged out and avoided paying my claim for long enough. I demand you escalate my COMPLAINT to your superior or provide me with your final decision on my claim well as the documents with my rights to approach the Financial Ombudsman to review your decision.

Awaiting your reply in RESOLVING my claim.
