Claim Rejected, No Assessors Report

<p>Yesterday morning our complete ceiling collapsed in the Lounge. We phoned Standard Bank Insurance immediately and they sent out a person who assessed the situation by looking at the ceiling boards and the way it was installed and according to him everthing was according to regulation. As our complete roof is on our lounge furniture, television, etc. and live electrical wires were hanging from the roof, we asked for it to be dealt with urgently. We eventually had to phone the person who told us that he submitted a report to the assessor and that the assessor rejected our claim, and that he was not allowed to give us the Assessors telephone number. He said he would get hold of him and ask him to phone us, with no luck. Apparently he went into a meeting. We phoned again this morning, and was told that they can not give us the Assessors report for 10 days??? In the meantime we are sitting with total destruction in our Lounge, electric wires hanging from the roof. What are we supposed to do? We were also told this morning that our claim was rejected on the grounds of it being a maintenance related issue? Seems to me Standard Bank likes to reject claims on maintenance issues (reading all the other complaints about rejected claims from them). Please tell me what maintenance issue can cause a complete ceiling to totally collapse without warning? We are wanting the assessors report in order to take this further and get independent assessments done as well. In the meantime we have had to disconnect our electricity for safety reasons.</p>
