Claim Declined and unhappy with outcome
Re: Claim Declined and unhappy with outcome
To whom it may concern,
i recently initiated a claim against my insurance policy for 2 fibre glass garage doors and 2 motors on 24th November 2020. the above doors and motors were damaged due to severe electrical storms and inclement winds that were experienced prior to 24 November 2020.
On 24th December 2020, a month after initiating the claim, an "Electronic Assessor", Mr Prakash Khanayia came to my place of residence to assess the damage. He indicated to me that he was there to only assess the 2 motors to which i rep**** that the 2 garage doors had also been damaged.
Standard Bank contacted me to advise that the claim had been declined based on the findings of the above assessor who quoted "poor workmanship" bearing in mind that these doors and motors stood the test of time as they were installed 20 years ago and this is the first instance that i have lodged a claim.
I am a pensioner and have not missed any payment of my premiums in the amount of approx R1800.00 per month in the last 20 years.
I am in receipt of a letter from Standard Bank Insurance dated 28th December 2020, stating the following:
"Cover is excluded for damages to two garage doors and motors until proof of repairs/ replacement received".
My policy number is SHS*** .
