Claim complaint

I wrote the following email on the 9th of Dec 2016 at 9am and am yet to have a worthy responce.

This is the first claim I have had with Standard bank insurance and compared to Outsurance, who I was with previously, your service is shocking.

1. I report the problem Tuesday morning and was informed R8950 would be covered minus R750 excess. If I selected my own plumber, this would be the maximum I would be paid.

2. The same day I arranged a quote from my regular plumber which came in at R8900 and I called through and then sent all the relevant information

3. I paid the deposit so the plumber could get working and he installed on Wednesday morning

4. No one from Standard bank called me so late Wed morning I called again. I was told the information was received and correct and this would be put through to the claims department. Where is the urgency? Why only AFTER I called would it be put through.

5. Thursday afternoon still nothing from Standardbank so I called AGAIN. (note each time I call Im on hold between 5 to 10 minutes because you are sooooo busy).

6. I spoke to Riyaaz who received the brunt of my anger. He asked me for the same information I had already submitted (even more frustration) and told me that yes the claims department has the information and they should have called me.

7. Riyaaz copied me on the mail below and a few hours later I received telephonic confirmation however the lady said I would be paid out a much LOWER amount than the R8200 I was initially told. When I questioned this she told me Ok the higher amount would be paid. I felt like I was being ****med. How many people are falling for this and accepting the lower amount without question?

When I had a guesser claim with Outsurance I was called constantly and was PAID the SAME DAY! AND they called me the following day to check that I had water and was satisfied. A burst guesser takes 3 days for you to confirm and now I must wait another 3 to 4 days to get the money. I have used my credit card to pay the plumber so I can get hot water otherwise relying on Standarbank I’m showering in cold water for a week.

So lets see what happens with this email complaint. Failing a satisfactory response from you I will publish this on Hello Peter and then the media. Ive done it before!

I am angry, frustrated, annoyed and questioning what if this had been a major claim? It was very fortunate I was at home and turned off the guesser before any damage was done.

I await your urgent response.
