Cancellation of insurance policy

Good day, got another problem with standard bank insurance department .I had a mortgage bond signed in 2006 with standard bank and it was insured by them. I settled my bond in August 2025. On the 2nd September 2025,i was asked if i want to leave my tittle deed with the bank or not. I responded that i want it released to me. I was advised to send them a signed confirmation letter, which i duly did . On the 3rd September 2025,they assigned me cancelling attorneys in Centurion, of which i requested them to reassigned another one because it was far for me, which they did. I also informed the bank that i am going to continue with their insurance . On the 08th October they(attorneys )sent me documentation to sign. At the end of October 2025 i transferred the premium for the insurance ,which was reflective on my bond account .Couple days later i received an email that i didn't pay the premium ,i then rep**** that i did. It was until the 01 November 2025,when they doubled debit my bank account .I had left R900.00 in my account to cover the premium which is R773.56. I then received an email on the 2nd November that i had insufficient funds in my account they will effect another debit order in the next couple of days and if there are no sufficient funds they will do so at the end of November. I immediately responded that they should should cancel my insurance with immediate effect because i was extremely angry .Since it was at night ,i received the electronic message that they will respond after two days .And to my astonishment my bond account had a minus R0,01(-1cent).On Tuesday 04 November ,i went to the bank and called the insurance department to check if they have already actioned my request. I spoke the consultants named Adelaide ,she sounded surprised about my request .She advised me that it was not possible unless i have got another insurance .I responded that i have got .She then said ,i should email it first and they will action my request .Then i said i will forward it before close of business .My second astonishment that 1cent has risen to R5.76 on the 04 November .I had to transfer that amount while i was still at the bank .Since my initial email and subsequent visit to the bank no response from the bank. I would like to advise you that when you have a mortgage bond with a financial institution open a saving account with that specific bank and transfer the repayment amount into it, maybe R100 or R200 more than your instalment and debit order should go through that account .You will be able to monitor activities in your bond account. Let's suppose i didn't have such that 1 cent would have risen to R100,R500, and maybe R1000, before i realise that something is going on on my bond account which i presumed closed .By that time the damage would be disastrous and the bank would compel you to settle it and will not write it off. They will only apologies and you will be left economical bruised .My second advice stay away from bank services such as counter services (inside the bank )and the ATM especially if you're depositing funds . For every R100 you will pay R16 and for every R1000 you will up to R90. Transfer your funds you will save a lot.
