Burned down house

Our double story thatched roof house burned down in Klerksdorp end October 2021 and claim has been lodged on 31st of October 2021. After 9 months and a lot of emails back and forth, the Insurance obtained final tenders and a decision was made by them to "rebuild" the house. The thing is: a structural engineer should have been to the house to test the walls and foundation to determine which walls, floors and foundation needs to be replaced, and to test the cement to see to what degree it dehydrated, which was not done at all. Now, they still want to "rebuild" the house by building up the damaged walls. In this now 10 months waiting for the Insurance, this property was unoccupied as it is unlivable and all buildings were vandalized and all steel, copper and everything of value were stripped for s**** metal. I made a proposal to rather do a settlement with me to use contractors in Klerksdorp to build a new house as I don't trust the construction of the house anymore. The contractors the Insurance appointed did not even start with the "rebuilding" and already there are issues with money and the budget for BOQ that was not done properly. There isn't even approved buiding plans but still they want to continue. Why do I, as the client of Standerd bank, not have a say in whatever happens to this claim? What can we do from here?
