Bad service at STD Bank Storms claim department. Promises, promises promises!
On the 18 November 2019 between 3 & 5pm,we had a violent storm here in Norkem Park ( Kempton Park) a huge tree on the in side of my boundary wall fell over and broke a section of the wall including a section of Tar on the inside of my property and the electric fencing. I laid a claim immediately and was promised that the tree feller and the building assessor would be there before 7pm. both did not pitch. They both came the following day (Tuesday 19.12.2019). The tree feller came to assess what he needed to do and told me he would come back on Wednesday, which he did. But by this time the Municipality had done most of the work for him. all he had to do was cut balance of the trunk that overhung the pavement and remove branches from mine and my opposite neighbor's pavement. uprooted stump left behind. Policy dictates that tree feller is not vetted to remove tree stumps???? The assessor (Trevor) assessed the damage and told my wife that he would be back on Friday 22.12.2019 after the tree had been sorted and cleared. Did not pitch. No temporary fencing was erected. I had to make numerous phone calls to get an update on the claim. (19/092068). I found out from the building contractors that are vetted by STD Bank that they were not going to do the job(no reason given) and STD bank would have to pay me out. STD bank's rates dictate that I would receive R25000.00 less the excess to rebuild. I disputed this amount because it would not cover the removal of uprooted tree stumps and repairing tar. Spoke to numerous consultants and they all have the same answer ,that I would have to get my own builder to rebuild and repair. I forwarded a quote (29.12.2019) from a company in my area which I found on line. They would do all the repairs before the 13th December 2019. STD bank ignored this. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Always not available or in meetings??? Asked to speak to the manager(04.12.2019), was told that he/she would phone me back as a matter of urgency. Still waiting. I now subjected to the ******** elements and my families lives are at risk. I live in an area which is seeing an increase break-ins, theft and Hi-Jackings. My First Line Of Defense is breachable. All I want is my property fixed. that's why I pay insurance.
