A deceased relative had filed a funeral benefit amounting to R40 000, however when the period of payout arrived, we recieved only R30 000, upon query at standard Bank, a plethora of reasons were given such as that the deceased had not paid the instalment for the past 3 months therefore the R10 000 was deducted from the payout. However, by such logic, they should have only deducted R577,20. We would like clarification on this matter and how that amount in arrears amounted to R10 000 for a period of Three months.
