Extremely poor service from Standard bank Insurance.
My Solar Inverter gave issues and needed to be repaired. Standard Bank assigned a technician to come and collect the inverter and send it in for repairs.
Once the inverter was repaired, the technician installed the inverter incorrectly by mixing the Neutral wire and Ground wire. This caused my inverter to malfunction and kept on tripping the Earth Leakage. Also this caused a ghosting affect on all LED lights in the house,
Also at the same time when ever I switched the inverter on again after the trip my one battery would go into fault mode.
I contacted the technician after I had enough of all these trips. I also asked question on solar forums about the issues I am having now. Also advised the technician that the one battery was now constantly going into fault mode.
He advised me to remove the battery and would come out the next day to recheck the inverter. I went head and removed the battery and saw that the entire battery was swollen, I then informed the Technician about the swollen one battery. I received feedback from Solar forums that the battery issue is pointing to incorrect charge settings, I then went to the inverter manual to find out how to check these settings and also the battery manual. The battery manual specifically pointed that the battery charge settings can not go higher than 53.2 V however the inverter was set to 56V.
The next morning they realized that they incorrectly installed the inverter by mixing the ground wire. they corrected this and took the battery that I had removed as per technician and left it outside of the battery room.
A few weeks then passed and after constantly sending mails for feedback I finally got feedback that they picked up that the inverter over charged caused the battery to over charge and that the battery no longer had its warranty active as the over charge void the warranty. and they picked up on this battery that a previous over charge was picked up in 2023.
Because of this they will not replace the battery, I find this unacceptable. Before this mess I had 4 working batteries and now I only have 3. Not only this but the Technician never once checked the inverter or the settings on it. This I know as I was present when they reinstalled the inverter not to mention the fact that they initially connected the inverter incorrectly that could have caused more damage to equipment inside my home.
It has just been me mailing each and every week with the first week getting replies that they are speaking to the technician and will advise shortly. Its been 15 days since the last mail and more than a month now since the battery was taken.
Still with one less battery and no feedback.
The fact that the technician never checked any settings connected the inverter incorrectly is very concerning to me, Also I had additional batteries bought after 2023 that means that because the inverter charge settings were not checked and i am thinking that when the inverter was repaired the settings where somehow changed Standard bank Insurance may now have voided the remaining 3 batteries Warranties as well.
As a paying customer I am very dissatisfied with the whole experience and I need a replacement battery because of the lack of professionalism form Standard bank and the technician they sent.
The basics were not done and checked. I had 4 working batteries before the inverter came back and after the inverter came back I now only have 3.
