I would like to know, how does the Department of Higher Education allow an institution to operate like this. I tried canceling my studies more than month before the semester even started and it's their fault they took nearly 2 weeks to respond to multiple emails. They want me to pay over R20k for saying you must still pay if you haven't cancelled within 14 days, I didn't receive study materials or anything. So I asked the finance department what will they do with my R20k, if I am not a student is this forced donation ? No response to date. I have studied at 2 types of Universities in South Africa credible ones and they do not have such *****ulent policies. The CHE must review this policy as it's wrong, had they said pay a portion of it as we could have given someone else your place. I would understand but the full tuition fee of my studies which I had not even started with no materials. This is ethically wrong
