Spelling of first name on ticket

I booked & paid R30 000 for 2 plane tickets on Monday 09/03/15 through STA travels to New York via London for December. I mistakenly gave the agent the incorrect spelling of the first name Malouise Rossouw which is suppose to be Magritha Rossouw. I understand that there might be a penalty to be paid which I'm willing to pay but find it very hard to believe that nothing can be done except buy a new ticket as told by travel agent. It is the same person & I can prove it with the exact same ID number. It's 9 months in advance. The agent told me i need buy a new ticket or cancel the whole ticket. Surely something can be done?<br> <br> Pls HELP
