In 2015 I purchased a Toyota Corolla Quest to use for uber/taxify business. Following this I was in contact with representatives from Hopecare Holdings (St Paul Underwriting Managers ) then known as Imvusa Brokers. After a telecom conversation, we agreed on an insurance policy for my vehicle for the mentioned use of shuttle and uber services.
After a number of months this insurance policy was changed from Saxum insurance to Genric Insurance and one of their reps contacted me about this change and stressed that my policy will stay the same it will just be the insurer that changes. He then emailed me the policy schedule which mentioned nothing of the additional excess charges they were to charge me later, to top this off none of these excess charges had been communicated to me via the telephonic conversation. As the years progressed, these brokers changed the insurers from Genric to Oakhurst and again explicitly communicated that my policy would stay the same.
Now this year on the 10th of July, I was involved in an accident and my vehicle was was written off; that is when the drama started. All of a sudden a number of excess charges are springing from nowhere and I have to suffer them. The insurers (Oakhurst Insurance) are charging 3 additional excess charges along with the normal excess charge and obviously because of the incompetence of Hopecare Holdings' reps shown by their lack of communication of these excess charges from the policy they took on my behalf with Oakhurst I must be the one to pay for this. This level of unprofessionalism and unfair practice is more than just an inconvenience on my part, i am sitting without a car and income from this car for the past month now and on top of that I still have to pay excess charges I knew nothing about leaving me with nothing to fend for my family while I try to acquire another vehicle.
This is exactly the type of service that makes us the consumers wonder if there is any organisation out there that believe in fair business practices. I mean I have been nothing but loyal to these brokers for all the years I had my vehicle and on my first ever claim for the service I have been paying for , this is what happens.
Can someone please step in and assist.
