SHOCKING TREATMENT FROM THIS PRACTICE RESULTING IN DEATH OF MY SHAKIRA.

SHOCKING - This is a veterinary specialist practice. My precious little girl Shakira was admitted for cruciate ligament replacement October 2019, a Monday morning. Cost R34200.00. I was phoned Monday afternoon 3.30PM to ask if I wanted her to be transferred to another surgery for night time nursing care as this specialist does not have night staff. Cost R2400 for an ambulance to transfer her. A SPECIALIST VET HAS NO NIGHT CARE AT A CHARGE OF R34200.00!!!!! I received a nurse report next day that she was doing fine and very vocal. Being a Husky she was normally very vocal so I was not unduly alarmed. I was phoned to collect her Wednesday morning - sooner than initially advised. WELL - there was a croaky crying coming from the ward. This was my little girl it turns out. She had been crying so much that she was ho****. Stressed. She was eventually carried out with an arm around her throat and an arm under her ribs. Her back legs which had had major surgery were unsupported and dangling and she was wriggling wildly. Nurse told me she had diarrhoea and they had tried to "wash" her. She was soaking wet and full of diarrhoea. Nurse told me I SHOULD cut the thick fur off her other side. (one side was shaved for the op). Strict bed rest and confinement is the care for this op. She could only lie on one side (the side with diarrhoea coating). I could only tentatively cut away her fur slowly and never really get to the entire area. She had to be carried in/out/up/down steps for a toilet break. NOT ONCE did she wriggle or stress under my care, save when I tried to wash or trim her soiled area. I advised the Surgeon on admission that she does not tolerate medication well. She was discharged with 9 different medicines. She developed fever and stopped eating. I took her to my LOCAL VET who is amazing. He was horrified with the condition she was in. He had to shave her hind contaminated area. She was admitted to his hospital and immediately put on a drip. He did blood tests. Hers were way off the charts. (She had been normal prior to her op with the Specialist, who did not do any blood tests that I am aware of - the pre op blood tests were done by my local vet). 2 days later she passed away most likely from multiple organ failure. Dec 2019 I received an email from the specialist practice wishing myself and Shakira a very happy New Year!!!!!!!!! HEARTBREAKING and SHOCKING. Both I and my son wrote detailed emails to the practice itemising the disgusting treatment, from admission to her passing, at the hands of their practice. On return after the surgeons happy Christmas holidays, I received an email advising that "his practice prides itself on the best care of their patients", and he will look into improving communication (referring to the Happy New Year email sent). All other issues were totally ignored. I SHOULD NOT have had additional local vet expense of R6400.00. My little girl SHOULD HAVE been discharged in a healthy clean state. Her medicines SHOULD HAVE been monitored. Her BLOODS checked. I SHOULD HAVE been advised of her stressful state of mind in the hospital. SHE SHOULD BE WITH ME TODAY. HEARTBROKEN. Use any other specialist vet for ops on your precious pets please.
