Financial and legal risk imposed on you due to their delays. I bought a BAIC Beijing X55 through Squad Cars in December. My finance house paid them in full and I collected my car on 17 December 2024. We receive excellent service on the pre-sale of the car. The salesman Vincent (Vinny) brought a car to Midrand to show me the vehicle. His manager Solo kept on calling me to inform me of the car and the features because they wanted a sale. We did not check the entire car as the seats were wrapped in plastic as it was new. They were not available when I picked up the car, although they were aware that we were picking up the car. On Sunday 18 December 2024, we opened the bonnet and to my dismay the engine was filthy. I called them and they said that we could bring the car to have the engine cleaned. They then gave us a R200 voucher, seeing that I drove all the way from Kempton Park. Only then did we receive the spare key and the service book. I have a permit as the licence department was closed and it would only open during the first week of January. I meticulously followed up on the car licence disks and number plates. The permit expired and Vinny drove to Kempton Park to deliver it around the first week of January. I was then promised that the licence disk and number plates would be delivered the following week, being the second week of December. I called to inform Vinny that the permit would expire on the 28th of January 2025 and again I was promised that they would bring the licence disk and number plates to my home. Please note that this is 6 weeks after the purchase of the vehicle, and you are only allowed a permit for 21days. Today being the 29th of January, I was pulled off in a roadblock. I was told that I’m driving a vehicle that is not licenced and it should be confiscated. I begged the officers that it would be sorted out today and they kindly took pity on me. I could have been arrested and the car impounded. Suffice to say, Solo does not answer his phone, Vinny can only say he will follow up. The money for the car is paid so why should they car. I have been patient until now and was almost in tears this morning It’s a beautiful car, but please do not buy from SQUAD CARS, PRETORIA NORTH if you want peace of mind. Vinny you are a great Salesman, but Squad Cars will tarnish your name. I will be escalating them to BAIC South Africa and the National Consumer Commission of South Africa.
