Waiting for more than a month for refund on returned items

I returned 2 items I purchased and initially received correspondence that they had been received. This was more than a month ago and when I called this week to find out why I had not been refunded, I was told that there was some type of back log and that my funds would be returned asap. It has been 2 days and nothing - not even an email or sms to acknowledge that my query was being attended to. This is very poor service from a company that advertises the fact that transacting with them is simple.......................
