On 29/05/2018 I returned a few items due to size issues & requested a store credit refund. Then on 05/06 I changed this to a cash refund & a call centre agent told me to send them proof of my banking details into which the refund will be deposited. I sent these immediately.
On 07/06/2018 I received an email that my refund has been processed & I now have a R3596 store credit which I can use immediately. For what reason did I send the proof of banking details? On 09/06 I contacted Spree about this & was told the "email staff" had not opened my email. Really, from Tuesday to Saturday?
The agent further informed me that he will forward my email to the finance staff & the request will be prioritised on Monday 11/06.
I followed up on Monday & it was confirmed that the request & all information is with the finance staff & the refund only awaiting the manager's approval & the money should be in my account by Friday, 15/06 the latest. On 13/06 I contacted spree again & was told exactly what I was told on Monday but I started doubting if this was really going to happen. On the morning 15/06 I still had not received my money. I phoned Spree for an update but this time I was told the refund will only be processed on the day. Who is lying to me here? I made it clear to the agent that I do not accept that as I submitted the request well in time even spending more making follow ups to ensure that I do not find myself in the panic & desperate situation I found myself in today. I told the agent that I want the money in my account by 14:00 same day as I need to finalize the arrangements for the unveiling ceremony I was hosting today, 16/06.
Shortly after the call I received an email from Eugene at Spree Payment Operations (according to the email signature). The arrogance & ignorance from this guy was beyond unacceptable. He told me that the refund will only be processed during the day & will reflect in my account within 48hrs. That's it?! This guy was not bothered one bit by what I needed the money for or even concerned by their poor service. Before thanking me for my "patience", this guy told me that the rude response he's just given me should sit well with me.
Apart from the sleepless night I had last night, again this morning I had to endure the embarrassment of having to go through friends & relatives trying to gather the R3000 to pay the caterer so my guests could atleast have a meal.
I could not celebrate today because of the Spree nightmare. As I am writing this, there is still the R3596 store credit on my Spree profile. The ceremony is over but I am unable "look back" & rejoice as I am now sitting with a debt because someone decided I do not know how to spend my money & they have the right & powers to dictate to me how & on what to spend my money.
One of the most important days of my life turned into a nightmare.
It is a known fact that at the top of the of the list of epileptic seizures triggers, is stress & not getting enough rest. This is exactly what Spree has put me through.
Living with epilepsy, I found myself throughtout the day having to make silent prayers that I do not get a seizure and find myself having to leave my guests to lock myself in the bedroom & lie down when I should be hosting.
I have been a customer for almost 6 years now but this is where my relationship with Spree ends.
Even the 1 star rating is way too much for Spree!
