Complete Lack of Service Delivery

I placed on order on Spree on Monday, 3 April and checked on the status of the parcel on Wednesday, 5 April because I have never received a parcel from them later than 2 days. I have a wedding this weekend and bought an outfit for this occassion.

I almost keeled over when I rechecked my confirmation e-mail that they would only be delivering on Monday, 10 April! I am travelling overseas on Sunday, so quite a predicament for me.

I first made use of the Spree customer service e-mail, but to date have not received a response. I then called their call centre to check if they could have it delivered sooner. The call centre agent did advise that they were experiencing high volumes due to their Birthday Sales, hence the delay. She said she would phone me back the next morning.

Obviously stressed, I phoned them again the next day after I didn't receive a call back. The call centre agent was rude and spoke to me as if I am an idiot. Repeating over and over about the high volumes and that I should have seen their notice on their website (a pathetic little banner I don't feel guilty for missing). I offered to collect it from their warehouse and was told it is against their policy, I suggested that I pay for an express courier, but was told it is not possible on their system. Not at one point was there an attempt to find a solution - just excuses.

It is disappointing that Spree has no flexibility or interest in finding a solution. A solution I was willing to pay for if it came to that. I'm pretty sure they knew volumes would increase over their Birthday Sale, so the mind boggles that they have no contingency for clients who urgently need their parcels.

I have ordered a parcel from Etsy before to be delivered to a hotel I was staying at in the States, there was a delay on their deliveries, so the delivery would only have occurred after I had already left that country. Despite being in the same high volume pickle, they made a plan and the parcel was delivered to the hotel. So I fail to understanding that Spree is ill equipped to service their customers, employing some flexibility to assist.

So most of my day was spent speaking to a call centre agent and a line-manager with the same disappointing result. I am sorry, but it is a deal breaker for me when a company treats me like an imbecile and can't muster up the energy to even attempt assisting me.

Hi Marisa

Our apologies for all your frustration.

We have confirmation that your order has since been received.

We have anticipated huge volumes of orders as it is our Birthday Sale and have indicated this on our website as an indication that the usual delivery time-frame will be affected by the Sale. We have also loaded a banner on our website in anticipation of this.

Again, our apologies for all your frustration.

Warm regards

The Spree Team

The issue here was not that I missed that it was your birthday sale nor that I missed your banner - if you actually read my complaint I do mention having knowledge of both. The issue here is that you were not only rude over the phone, but have no solution despite my willingness to pay for an express courier as a last resort. Your condecension is not welcome. Bye!
