Sportsman’s Warehouse ***** policy! What you see is not what you get!

Last night I went to Sportsman’s Warehouse in the Pavilion and wanted to buy some shoes for my daughter. The Shoes were advertised on special at R2000, the normal price was R2200.

I price check and was not a bad deal. At the till when the store manageress rung up the shoes they came up as R2200. I waited to see the discount apply but the register did not apply it! I then mentioned that the shoes are on special as advertised in-store and the store manager asked me for my cell number!? When I asked why the special did not register when the item was scanned at the till point she mumbled some thing about loyalty membership to qualify and adjusted the price to the advertised value.

I went back to the promotional sign which said nothing about loyalty membership to qualify for the discount, I even looked for small print!!

I think Sportsman’s Warehouse has a ***** policy of “see if the customer notices we didn’t charge the price we advertised, if not we score additional margin!”

I am very irritated by this type of thing because the onus should not be on the customer to ensure that what is advertised on special is charged at that price at the till.

I wonder how many thousands of customers never noticed and paid more than what they thought they were?
