POOR CLIENT SERVICE

I recieved a pair of Havianas at Christmas from my parents which I love, never knowing my boyfriend is also buying me a pair. I wanted to take back the pair my boyfriend bought for me at Sportmans Warehouse but they refuse to give the money back and only want to refund me back on my bank card and not give me the cash. The tags are still on the shoes has never been worn. Are they right to refuse me a cashback?
