2 Day Old B&S Bat Handle Broken and won’t be replaced!!!!

My son saved up for a Cricket Bat and went to Sportsman Warehouse at Watercrest Mall on 12 November. He bought a B&S Bat and paid a total of R2000. We paid for them to hit the bat in, Oil it etc and collected it on 16th November, he tried the bat once on 17th November and went to Cricket Lesson all excited to show his coach, only for them to see the bat is broken in the handle. Went back to Sportmans Warehouse today 18th November and they have advised they can’t replace the bat as it’s not a manufacturers fault! How can an 11 year old in 1 day break the bat when he only played with it once! I eventually got them to book it in and send to the manufacturer but they told me upfront they don’t think they can help me! How can a R2000 bat break after being hit once!
