On May 16 2023 I went into sportscene Greenacres ,I asked the cashier how much my account balance is and I paid the money in full and requested to closed my account. I was than put on the phone with customer service to close my account, I than left the store because according to my knowledge my account is closed almost a year later I received a statement saying I owe TFG R1500 when I contacted them they say the very same day May 16 2023 a purchase of a R1000 was made when I contacted the *****ulent department they telling me they can’t assist me and I’m liable for that money

So how am I liable for something I didnt purchase or why can’t they even investigate this incident checking the receipt to check if it’s my signature or how the person was able to purchase on the account
