TFG IS A RIPOFF

Good day I had an account with sportscene for many years up until in 2019 when I lost my work. I got my monies then I went to the store (SOUTH GATE) to settle whatever amount I was owing and told the sales person to close the account for me and to also cut the card with scissors. They did that and everything was sorted , fast forward 2023 I'm checking my credit score boom sportscene I owe them R2900.00. worse part I'm not working now due to the pandemic. Any advice or help how I can solve this problem?
