A store filled with clowns
Yesterday I went to Sportscene in Southgate Mall to purchase a Sony Xperia A1 which most distinctive feature that attracted me to it was the fact that it had a great Camera (rear and front) with a FRONT FLASH.
To my dismay today when I finally had the chance to explore the phone, I was disappointed to see that the front camera was way below par and not only that but its illusive protective screen outlines an opening for a front flash that doesn't even exist.
When I tried calling Sportscene at first the line was busy for about 15 minutes. I carried on with my work and called back an hour later only to be "assisted" by a nonchalant unenthusiastic employee who immediately told me "okay, then just bring the phone back" with no apology for the fact that my time had been wasted. Not only that but since the phone I bought yesterday was supposedly the last one, I did notice that there was still one on display.
Obviously I had to think for the both of us since Mr Employee didn't bring his brains to work today, I suggested that I take the one that is on display. The employee then proceeded to inform me that someone had just purchased the one that was on display. He said that he will check on their system to see if there could possibly be another one available and said goodbye - now, after having multiple bad experiences with this particular shop, I insisted on holding the line while he checks their system or else they would have never gone through with it. This employee then put the phone down (not dropped) and continued with his day absolutely unbothered by the fact that there is a client on hold using their own hard earned airtime only to be ignored.
After being on hold for 5 minutes I realised this man clearly isn't doing what he said he would, I ended the call and tried calling back and lo and behold, the line is busy because this guy never bothered attending to the call he neglected or dropping the line - and its been another 10 minutes and I still can't get ahold of the store.
I remember the last time I had an issue with this store when I had purchased a phone and immediately insured it only to find out 3 months later that they hadn't even bothered sending my insurance request through - mind you, this was done by the store manager. I was unemployed and asked the manager to please hire me as I would never be so nonchalant and always give my all in all I had to do, my request was laughed off and I was given the usual "apply online" story (P.S. to anybody who is unemployed reading this, this is basically a nice way of saying "go ***** yourself" because even if that is the proper process, someone who intends on helping you get employed would give you more than this generic response but actually give you their personal details to help make sure your CV gets sent to the right people and not an automated email address.
My thing is, there's so many diligent desperate people out there - and I say people not youth because this store is filled with young people that don't care about doing a good job - that could do a much better job. I am horrified that bad service has become Sportscene Southgate's norm and I'm horrified at the prospect that nothing will be done about this.
I WANT THE PHONE THAT WAS ADVERTISED and I don't want to have to inconvenience myself to get it, gosh!
