Serious Warning About the Workmanship and Conduct of Marco Snell from Speedy Garage Doors

I am posting this review as a serious warning to other consumers about the workmanship, advice, conduct and standards of Marco Snell of Speedy Garage Doors. In September 2025, I appointed Speedy Garage Doors to remove two single garage doors, remove the central pillar between the two garage openings, plaster the garage wall and floor, and install a double garage door. This was not a small job. It involved structural changes to the garage opening as well as the installation of the garage door, and I re**** on Marco Snell to provide competent advice and proper workmanship. Importantly, his original quotation included a lintel. However, during the course of the work, he changed his position and advised me that the required lintel length was not available. He then told me that a lintel was not necessary. He reassured me that there would be no issues and gave me confidence to continue without one. He also stated that he would install a wooden plank above the garage door on the side of the wall to ensure that the wall remained structurally sound. Relying on his advice, the central support pillar was removed and the garage door was installed without a lintel. The consequences of that workmanship have been extremely serious. After the work was completed, the brickwork above the garage opening began to sag and crack badly. The structural movement has since worsened and has now also caused the garage door operator pole/boom to pull loose from the wall. This is not a cosmetic issue or a small defect. A support pillar was removed, no lintel was installed, the wall has cracked severely, and the garage door mechanism has detached from the wall. The poor workmanship was not limited to the structural issue. The plastering of the wall and floor was also done poorly, and I had to repeatedly ask for parts of the work to be redone. I should not have had to keep pushing for work to be corrected on a project of this nature. I was also very concerned about the standard of labour used on my property. During the project, tools went missing from my house and were later recovered. This added to my concern and distrust about the team working in my home. On 26 May 2026, Marco came to inspect the crack. During this visit, he then advised me to purchase the lintel myself and said that he would get someone to install it. Even at that point, he provided no written quotation, no proper scope of work, and no timeframe for when this would be done. By that stage I had already lost confidence in his workmanship and judgment. I also checked with my insurer and was advised that the damage would not be covered because it resulted from poor workmanship. As a result of the defective work and incorrect advice I received, I am now left with serious structural damage, a partially detached garage door system, and the additional financial burden of having to appoint other professionals to correct and repair the damage. My experience with Speedy Garage Doors has involved: • incorrect structural advice, • poor workmanship, • poor plastering and finishing, • repeated rework, • low confidence in the labour used, • missing tools during the project that were later recovered, and • an unprofessional attitude when the defects and damage were raised. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Marco Snell or Speedy Garage Doors to any consumer. In my view, the workmanship, advice, labour standards and handling of defects were wholly unacceptable. What should have been a professional garage door installation and related building work has left me with structural damage, safety concerns and significant extra repair costs.
