SPECTRAMED - LIVE OR DIE

<p>VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I phoned in about 10 days ago and spoke to a consultant about a authorization number for an operation. The operation will be done at a non preferred hospital. We were referred to this surgeon by a preferred doctor and hospital. The preferred surgeon could not help us - very complex operation. The referred doctor is a colo****** surgeon - only operate on colon patients. When I spoke to the medical aid they told me because of the cancer code C20 this operation will be paid in full - NO CO-PAYMENT will be charged. Yesterday they advise me that a 30% co-payment will be charged because of us not using a Life or Netcare Hospital. I send then a motivational letter from the surgeon - STILL NO JOY. THIS SURGEON ONLY WORKS OUT OF WITS DONALD GORDON HOSPITAL. The surgeon from the Life Hospital will assist in the operation - very new techniques will be used to safe my husbands life.</p> <p>The doctor at Life CAN NOT DO THIS OPERATION - THATS WHY HE REFERRED US - THIS WAS NOT MY CHOICE. DOES SPECTRAMED WANT A PERSON THAT ADMIT HE CANT DO THIS OPERATION</p> <p>OPERATE AND THE PATIENT DIES?????? THIS IS MY HUSBANDS ONLY CHANCE OF SURVIVAL</p> <p>BEFORE THE CANCER SPREAD TO HIS LIVER. WOULD YOU ALLOW SOMEONE TO OPERATE ON YOU IF HE ADMITS HE CANT DO THIS???? IS THIS WHAT SPECTRAMED WANTS??????? NOT THE BEST FOR THE MEMBERS??????</p> <p> </p>
