Medical savings payout

Good afternoom to whomever reads this. (If anyone reads this)

On the 20th December 2016, I received an email from your debt collection department stating that I was being handed over for outstanding medical scheme contribution along with this email was a summary of the total amount owed, which at the bottom shows an amount of -R16072.56. (Take note of the minus in front)

The email goes on to say that the benefits were terminated with effect from the 31/07/2016 and to avoid blacklisting please make arrangements to settle your account within 21 days and should we fail to settle the outstanding amount by the 05/07/2016??, now I am not sure if I have read this correct but 21 days after the 31/07/2016 would be +- 28/08/2016 as you will notice above we would have had to travel back in time to make this payment, perhaps Spectramed has the advanced technology of doing so by accumulating millions and millions of Rands from the exorbitant contribution fees charged every single month from people such as myself who have paid these fees for the last 10 years with out fail, now as I am sure you will see I had R29000 in savings on our medical aid

we see this email, big and bold heading HAND OVER OF DEBT FOR COLLECTION and as I am sure you can imagine we panic, because as I said above we had R29000 in our savings on our medical aid (again if you can call it that) but this is where the confusion comes in, as follows from Spectramed five months ago:

Heading : Resignation and Medical saving

From.spectramed

it was with regret To Learn Of your Resignation From the scheme and that it has been confirmed and to contact Spectramed for confirmation of our banking details for the refund.. it goes on with more but close to the bottom of this it says spectramed has the right to recover any outstanding debts to the scheme from the savings amount before it is paid out.

So my fiance phoned you guys on the 20th December 2016 to see what the hell is going on, only to be told that this was incorrect and that the "debt collection department" should not have sent this out.

My question to Spectramed is when is this savings payment going to be done, we were told that the payment will be made anytime during the fifth month but you cannot tell us exactly when, why not? Is it a story of "luck of the draw"we are now going into the sixth month.

we were with Spectramed for 10 years and this is how we get treated, threatening emails on debt collection when there is clearly money to pay any outstanding amounts but because some scientist that works there decided to do their job yesterday and send out debt collecting letters before checking their facts. Now we must hope that our money will be paid out when Spectramed feels like paying it out. is this how you treat people who have paid almost a half a million rand in contributions and also hardly used the medical aid. The other funny thing is that before the medical aid was cancelled we had +- R29000 in savings, we get the email form the debt collection department saying we have R24000, R5000 missing, if someone actually reads this could they also let me know where that R5000 went??, we have not used the medical and could not use it after the 31/07/2016.

I am posting this on the hello peter as well getting some advice on the above from the medical ombudsman on how to take this further. It is absolutely disgusting how Spectramed treat people and appalling that you have the audacity to send out debt collecting emails when the arrangements have been done and then 10 minutes after we have phoned to enquire what the hell is going on you send a recall email to recall that previous email of "Handover of debt collection" what a joke.

We have spoken to other medical aids that have informed us that most medical aids take three months to payout so why five months from Spectramed?

I know that I am going to get some computerised message saying that Spectramed apologises for any inconvenience caused and that you have am dedicated team MEMBER handling this matter.....

Regards,

Member number : ********** 8796
