Be carefull before joining Spectramed Medical id

<p>I wish to advise that Spectramed, in the absence of proof of income, increased my membership contribution to that of the highest income bracket for the months of January and February.</p> <p>I am a pensioner, and do not have an e-mail address and on the insistence of Spectramed to supply one, gave them my brother in law's email address. There was no intention on my part to have this as my main source of correspondence which has always been my postal address. My brother in law retired at the end of October and his E-mail address was discontinued.</p> <p>Spectramed sent correspondence via e-mail in November calling for proof of income. They failed to send the correspondence to postal addresses as well.</p> <p>I noticed that my contribution for January had increased substantially (by R1 585 per month from R4 648 to R6 233). I contacted Spectramed who informed me that I had to forward proof of income which I did on 9th February.</p> <p>The contribution was not decreased at end February and I again contacted Spectramed. They informed me that there was insufficient time to adjust the February contribution and that the adjustment down would be effected at the end of March.</p> <p>I enquired about the overcharge for January and February and they informed me that although they acknowledge that there was an overcharge based on my income, they were not prepared to refund the over-recovery.</p> <p>This in my opinion is tantamount to *****ing from the member, a pensioner, as <br />the massive over-recovery does not constitute a contribution which is based on a table of income received by members. One wonders where this excess amount will ne accounted for in their books of account.</p> <p>The solution that I am seeking is a refund of the over-recovery that is due to me.</p> <p>Kindest regards</p>
