So bad it's almost unbelievable

In November of last year, I went to Specsavers at Canal Walk in Cape Town. I had my eyes tested and ordered reading glasses and bifocals.

What happened after that is so unbelievable it’s almost laughable. I went to the store a total of eleven times in an effort to get a correct prescription.

I was ultimately left with the incorrect prescription in both pairs. After a period of time due to Covid, on Saturday I saw another optician in private practice.

It was discovered that my long distance vision in my left eye is better without the bifocals. The prescription on my reading glasses is different to the prescription on the reader part of the bifocals. I can also see better with my right eye than with my left when wearing my readers.

I contacted Specsavers this week with a list of my visits and the prescription from the private optician so they could see the difference.

I did receive a call from a gentleman at Canal Walk branch. He seemed to be completely underwhelmed by the level of ineptitude exhibited on my numerous visits. He offered to fit the spectacles I had with the new prescription – without charge. My response was that I have absolutely no intention of returning to any branch of Specsavers.

He did not offer me a refund.

Customer service – zero. The worst retail experience I have ever received.

Thank you. I do have full details regarding the 11 visits as well as the Specsavers' prescription and the new prescription by a private practitioner.
