******** misleading advert

Walked into Spec savers Northgate on the 28th of August as I had broken my glasses. Eye test done, time to choose a frame. As there was a special running, ie R1500 off any frame chosen, I chose a frame worth R1995 (meaning I had to pay R495 difference). I was then told my medical aid would not cover everything I would have to pay about R1500. I asked to see the quote...the lady assisting me had added anti-glare and a few other add ons that were not prescribed. When I told her I ddnt want or need the antoglare as I never had it before, she said I would have to choose a frame for R1500 or less as I was no longer taking the antiglare, ddnt make sense to me. She then state it was detailed in their terms and conditions, which I then demanded to see. After a while, got hold of them, and they clear state, Part 1: You may select a frame worth R1500 or less which you will get for free with no refund on the difference, if frame is more then the difference may be paid. Clearly Spec savers thought I was illiterate and wanted to make money out of me. After a while, (and them realising they had been caught trying to **** me) I paid R246 which my medical aid wouldnt cover. Fine.

A week later I walk back in to pick up my glasses, and the gentleman who asissted me tells me I need to pay R380 difference!!! The long and short, there was no such difference to pay, he admitted to making a "mistake" in calculations, I showed him a message from my medical aid that said I had to pay R22.90....he fiddles with his computer then says yes, you have to pay only R22.90.

You got to know your rights and show them that you know coz Spec savers will **** you of your hard earned money. Never will I walk in there again....stay away!!!!
