PATHETIC SERVICE

I am feeling so disgusted with the pathetic service I have received at Spec Savers, Vangate branch, Cape Town. My mother managed to get an appointment to do an eye test on 12 June 2025. I should indicate there was a confusion from my mother's side with regard to choosing the frame however that was resolved later. After that I also became very busy due to work travels and could not make contact with Spec Savers. Towards the end of June I called them to check on the glasses. I was told that I should wait for the new stock and they will call me. Today. 17 July I called Spec Savers to check if they did get the new stock, only to be told that they received the new stock on 01 July and they have called me and I was not available. I told the lady on the phone that was not true, and she gave the call to Yonela Kraai who confirmed that I was called. I insisted to tell them that was not true. She even went further that they have records that I was called on 12 June 2025. That I confirmed as that was way before I made the call around 20 June to be told of the new stock and would be called as soon as it arrived. I asked them when did they call me as they should remember and have records of that and its a recent call which was after 01 July 2025 after they have received new stock for the glasses. Yonela said I should drop the call so that she could check the records. After 30 minutes Yonela called me to tell me that their offices called me to remind my mother to come to fit the glasses however she could not confirm the date and the time. They could not confirm the recent calls in their records but could confirm the one of 12 June in their records which was very strange and full of lies. What I hate about this is to keep my 80 year old mother waiting for this long and still have the guts to lie in my face that they called to remind me. I am not staying with my mother. Whenever I visit her or call, she would ask me about her glasses, and I would respond that I am waiting for a call from Spec Savers as I was promised so. It is unprecedented that I had to wait this long for the process to get glasses at an optometrist. I did mine also in June 2025 but at the St Georges St branch in Cape Town. I received my 3 pairs of glasses a week later with the best service ever. I regret that I had to subject my mother to such a pathetic service from this branch. The unfortunate thing is that they have even indicated to me that I could not take my mother to other branch as they have already started with the process for my medical aid, I also don't know how true that is. I would love to be released to such bad service, and I am willing to restart the process at other branch

Dear Lugulwana.
We're truly sorry for the frustrating experience you and your mother have had at our Spec-Savers Vangate branch. We completely understand how upsetting this situation must be.  Your detailed feedback is deeply appreciated and highlights serious concerns that need urgent attention. This is not the level of service we strive for at Spec-Savers, and we sincerely apologize for the poor communication, the delay, and for making you feel unheard. We will ensure you are contacted.

Warmest regards
