Kids Right to Good Sight

My daughter is on the Kids Right to Good Sight program, for a few years now. We really struggled since last year to make an appointment somewhere near our home but had to settle for one at Cavendish even though its a bit inconvenient. Had so many issues with Specsavers, online and instore, I just took what I could get since she is now even already overdue. So we went on Thursday and they tested her and the Optometrist said she needed new glasses as there was a slight change in her vision on one eye. She chose a cute frame and then we were told it would cost R1000 to thin them down as they would apparently be so thick. I don't have R1000, that's the reason we take the opportunity that this program provides. I left the store so sad because now I had to tell my daughter all that was for nothing and she wasn't getting those pretty new frames. What is the point then if I have to pay? If I had money I would just pay for spectacles for her. I also don't understand how they suddenly are soooo thick they need R1000 to thin out. Please help
