INCORRECT DIAGNOSIS, ARROGANT, NO PEOPLE S****S, NO ACCOUNTABILITY

2yrs ago went for annual check up at Bluff Spec Savers, explained my problem and that I have prescribed prisms, anti glare and outlined treatment from the age of 18. One eye pulled in and lense was adjusted to correct this so that the other eye didn't overwork. Less headaches! Have light sensitivity issues, especially to the colour white and bright lights, night driving, sunlight etc. Always have had specific glasses due to computer and excessive reading. Was told my eyesight had improved, still joked that this was the first time I had been told this as i had never had a near or far sighted issue. After receiving glasses, went back several times only to be told "my eyes" need to ajust and to give it time. Told them I can't walk with the glasses because I almost fell and can't afford to fall as i have 4 incomplete vertebrae in my neck due to an accident I had. However, following the "advices received", again tried wearing them continuously to alleviate the constant headaches occurring and still no go! Eventually threw them in my draw and wore my old glasses which I unfortunately misplaced during my move in February this year. As I had moved back to the Bluff, I happened to be in the center one day and went and spoke to the optometrist who promptly told me to bring my glasses in for a check. On a second visit, took the glasses, again spoke with the optometrist, who looked at them and on the computer and said, "these are normal reading glasses" ... No anti glare, no prisms.. I was really confused. She said I should make an appointment and return as my new glasses were due shortly, I walked out and the more I thought about it, the more irate I became.

I went back and asked why I was prescribed reading glasses when I didn't have a near or far vision problem. I again explained the issue with my eyes noy bending light correctly the anti glare, night blindness, etc. And explained to her that the slang word for my eye sensitivity was "white blind". Explaining again that means that my eyes were especially sensitive to the colour white. She promptly condescendingly told me she had a degree and had studied for 5 years and that I should go to a specialist and if the specialist found anything she should have picked up, she would pay for my lenses 3 visits to the specialist, only to be told my vision itself is PERFECT, hr had to however do numerous tests for the prisms and then handed me a script purely for prism, anti glare and transition as that is what was required. I asked him if this could be picked up bythe optometrist and he said, yes, they have the equipment and especially if I advise them of this, it needs to be checked. Because of light issues, headaches, tiredness my vision blurs at night sometimes to the point of not being able to see. He suggested that i try the incorrectly prescribed glasses to see if they assist at these occurrences.

I went back to the optometrist, told her that according to the specialist, the diagnosis of this specialist and that I was correct and she was not, I advised her that being condescending, rude to your patients and telling them you researched "white blind" and its apparently only a disease found in rabbits. The specialist knew exactly what i was referring to, so it must be that 5 year degree that is held and perhaps a LACK OF EXPERIENCE that exudes arrogance in the part of me as a patient having lived with this for only say 28 years had no idea what i was talking about seeing as i didn't have the 5 year Optometry degree behind my name? I proceeded to give her one more chance, she initially said that if the specialist found something she should have picked up, she would pay for the lenses. I also made an appointment for my son in good faith. Gave her the script, there is a current promotion on gor R1 500 for frames. My script was sent to the lab to see if they can do it. I reviewed 2 phone calls. One to say yes they could do it, second one was the quote of R3 100. I commented that seeing as the frames are free and she is paying for the lenses, when can i get them... Only to be told that she said ahe isn't paying for the lenses but will pay for the fitment of the new lenses in the old frames.... There are so many words that I could use. That wasn't the agreement. Cancelled my sons appointment, cancelled my script with them, am reporting them to my Medical Aid, and will gladly pay a professional optometrist to do my scipt...
