Customer Harassment - Free eye test and Spectacles
I walked into a store Spec Savers The Glen looking for spectacles and was told of a promotional package of Free eye test and choosing a frame with a particular colour to indicate a amount range of the frame.
I did an eye test and indeed I chose a frame and left for an email to be send of the total quotation. The email came and quote was around R4000.00. I said to the lady I will have to wait for month end as I never anticipated it will come to that amount.
I went to the store to having R2000.00 in my hand for deposit and when I get there I found that my frame is missing and allocated to another person maybe. I had to chose another frame and did not find what I like. The lady said to me they are receiving stock in a weeks time they will call me. I did not pay the deposit and left. After a week or two I received no call from specsavers and went to get another pair of spectacles as I was getting desperate.
The called me on the third week or after a month to come get my spectacles i told them that I got a pair from another service provider. After a week I receive an invoice that I must pay R519.00 for the eye test.
My morale does not allow me to pay them no matter how small this amount. I feel that they are misleading consumers with their adverts that have loopholes and still they do not perform having the necessary stock and following up with the customer.
I went there to pay and they did not meet their end of the bargain and now they see they have lost a sale due to their own doing the want me to pay for another eye test as I have a new pair with another service provider,
They are now threatening me with legal action and I feel that as a consumer they are taking advantage of the law prescribed in the CPA. As a customer I went there with all my best interest and strongly condemn the actions of intimidating consumers in bulling them because they failed to meet their promises. Spec Savers must stop being ***** and cheats, for me its not about the money R519.00 is small change. Its about how they conducted their business with me and I speak for may customers. By luring customers with free eye test knowing very well they do not have variety of stock to choose from. The free eye test is the catch. Customers beware and I will see to it it goes viral and warn consumers about spac savers if they do not give me a written apology and stop calling me and harrassing me everyday and me having to explain my reason why I strongly feel I cant pay them. I had good intentions did they?
That is my story.
