Canceled booking for a child because mother wasn't testing

Canceled booking The whole of SA knows that every year spec savers runs a campaign to get kids under 12 to test for their eyes for free and get glass for free from them. To my surprise Festival Mall spec savers canceled a booking for a child because the mom had also booked for herself by accident and when she told them that she is not coming they canceled the booking . Now the spec savers in Thembisa Mall bluntly told the mom that she will get a booking if she pays for the eye test for the glasses from them only then can they arrange for her child to get a booking for the free campaign that is currently running This seems to be a trend across all the spec savers that they will tell you that they are fully booked and give you a option to pay for the eye test and glasses in order for you to get a slot for what's meant to be free.

Dear Wonga.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We completely understand your concerns regarding your child’s booking and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. From your description, it appears that the booking was made as a joint appointment. For joint appointments, if the parent or guardian is unable to attend or cancels their own appointment, the child’s appointment is also automatically canceled.  We recommend visiting the Specsavers website to schedule appointments for your child so your child can participate in the free campaign. You can do this under the Kid’s Right To Good Sight offer here: https://www.specsavers.co.za/book-an-eye-test

Thank you and Kind regards
 The Spec-Savers Team
