Beware Spec-Savers accounts department

Good technical service, very poor treatment by their accounts department. I am a senior citizen and in March 2024 I consulted Spec-Savers Shelly Beach for hearing aids. The audiologist who assisted me was very professional - first rate. I placed my order, my medical aid paid their portion, and I paid the balance at the time I took delivery of 2 high quality hearing aids. Imagine my reaction when, 6 months later, I get a phone call from a collection agency telling me that my debt has been handed over to them and if I don't pay R278,00 I will be black listed, or words to that effect. Over this period I had not received any communication from Spec-Savers - no invoice, no statement, not one phone call, SMS or email stating that my account was outstanding. When I checked with the debt collector they confirmed that they had my correct contact details. Despite this being Spec-Saver's error I have not received an apology. Their accounts department is hopeless - I will be more cautious if I ever deal with Spec-Savers again, which I hope not to.
