Bad Vi
I went in for an eye-test to Spec Savers La-Lucia, in April of 2017. I purchased glasses which I received sometime towards the end of April/beginning of May. However I soon realised that my vision was not as clear as expected. About two or three days later I went back in as there was no improvement in vision however I was advised to give it time for my eyes to adjust to the higher prescription. This did not occur. I went in several times to the La Lucia branch, even to the Atruim and City View branches and each time I requested the glasses to be re-adjusted as my vision was not very clear. Each time the fitting of the frame was adjusted. I finally gave up.
Eventually in December; I went to an Ophthalmologist, concerned that there might be a problem with my eyes as there was no improvement in vision. I was advised that the prescription was incorrect therefore affecting my vision. In a matter of a few months my eyes could not have deteriorated to such an extent.
I went back to Specsavers La Lucia with the script from the opthamologist and was told that since there was no record of a complaint and it was a few months later; they could only offer me a 50% percent discount on redoing the lens. The lens were redone; making my glasses essentially one of my most expensive belongings as in total I've paid over R 10 000.00 for it. Having paid twice in the same year for the same set of glasses is really no joke.
During the time I had no choice but to wear my old glasses that were 5 years old. The "new" glasses were returned to me towards the middle of January 2018. For a while the strength seemed to be correct as I basically went from a really old pair of glasses to the new one.
However I have been noticing; in the last few weeks that my vision is not what I have been expecting with a higher script. Now I'm not sure as to the reason; I am squinting ( while wearing my glasses ) to see things just a few feet in front of me. I find it highly annoying having to squint to see clearly even while watching a movie on the big screen or squinting to see a sign some four feet in front of me. My vision is not clear at all.
Also about three weeks ago I noticed that the lens were sticking out of the front of the glasses quite a bit and during a trip to Gateway , I went to Spec Savers and asked them to adjust the lens.I was told that the lens were cut too small for the frames and that is why they were pushing out from the front and I would have to take them back to the La Lucia Spec avers. I cut short my shopping trip and immediately took it to La Lucia. The person there told me that Gateway Spec Savers was incorrect and the reason the lens were coming out in the front was because that happens with plastic frames. I have been using plastic frames for years and have never experienced this feature. They attempted to put the lens back in place. The lens are still sticking out. However I have since come to understand that this maybe due to the lens being so thick.
Just over a week ago I sent in an email to Spec Savers La Lucia explaining my difficulties. A response inviting me to bring the glasses back to the store to fix the lens extended.
This past weekend I went into the store in order to attempt to get some clarity on the situation and was told that no one but franchisee; Louise, could assist me in this instance and she is only available during the week...while I am on available on weekends.
