Bad product and service at Specsavers,Liberty Promenade
Ever since I can remember,I associate the Spec-savers brand with quality and superiority.Oh my word, boy was I wrong.I had spectacles made for my daughters & I,in 2018. Both their frames broke the same year and it was replaced. In 2020,they were up for renewal of spectacles.I took both of them for their eyes test and then lockdown happened. With this,I collected their spectacles in May,when lockdown regulations eased down & shops reopened. It wasnt long and my 1 daughter's spectacle frame broke.I took it back and it was replaced. not long and it broke again.I took it back and the lady behind the counter was extremely rude, saying "you have to pay R199,coz this frame was clearly broken by force" I explained to the lady that the spectacles fell from her face, but to keep the peace,I gave my last money just so my child could have her spectacles.1 week in,the spectacle frame broke again. It was the exact same lady and she told me I need to pay again and I said I refuse to,the frame is of inferior quality. She showed the technician, who agreed the problem was the frame.I was informed that if it breaks again,we might have to get a complete new frame,at my cost!I don't understand why as they sold the frame. Why should the customer pay if the business procured inferior products?Long story short, frame broke again! My mother took it back, they "fixed the frame and the frame broke,in the store, before handing it to my mother. They somehow then burned the frame on the side to hold it in place. This week,my other daughter's frame broke.Today,28 February 2021,my sister took the spectacle back, explaining to them that the corner of this frame broke. My sister was informed that it would cost R144 to fix.she contacted me and I said I absolutely refuse,as this seems to be a money making business. The lady informed my sister that I need to pay,as it was a promotion, where both got spectacles under 1 transaction, this all while my medical aid was charged for all this.My sister said 1 of the other assistants daid that the reason why the frames break, was because the *****s were too tight,to which my sister wanted to know how can the customer be held accountable if the product was sold like that,to which she was informed that they will check with the technician on Monday. It is just disappointing that we need to go to and fro due to inferior products being sold, whereas children's vision depend on having them.Furthermore,I am aggrieved by the terible customer service received so far.If Liezel isnt available,I prefer not to deal with anybody,as she still portraits the brand's values of what service should be.They lady I dealt with acted and treated me,as a client, as though she was doing me a favour by speaking to me,let alone provide a service.I feel that she was unprofessional in the manner she dealt with the situation.I feel if staff are unhappy to work there, they must not be allowed to deal with clients. My mom and I still wanted to make our appointments to have our spectacles made there,by giving them a last chance, but after today's episode,I would much rather take my business elsewhere.I want the company to realise that they could have a good reputation for years, but if 1 client is unhappy and spreads the word, years of hard work can be undone.Right now I would not recommend anybody to use the service of Spec-savers,Liberty Promenade,in Mitchell's Plain.
