Disgraceful Pool Company - Sparkling Giant Pools

<p>I contracted with Jedd van Niekerk from SGP on the 14th of August 2016 to reline my fibreglass pool, based on the reviews of the local community on facebook. I also try and encourage and support local business in my area.</p> <p>On the 22nd of Aug 2016 I paid the deposit of R25000.</p> <p>From the 22nd of Aug until the next deposit date of 21st Sep 2016, I got a number of excuses for not being on site or the progress of the contract. However, as an additional step had been built and plastering had been required on the whole pool, I paid the next installment of R27500.</p> <p>Since the the 21st of September, every excuse under the sun has been used and a demand by him to pay the full amount before work continues.</p> <p>As this went against the contract, I disputed this and demanded he complete the job before the final 10% got paid. He never returned to site, never returned a phonecall, but emailed once a week to say he needed the full amount before continuing.</p> <p>I unfortunately had to engage with a lawyer and have subsequently handed him over to them to deal with, but have the loss of R52500 which he has run away with, and have contracted a new supplier to finished the botched job, which has cost me double in the end.</p> <p>After engaging with various companies and quotes it is unfortunate to find out, his level of expertise is literally zero in pool repairs, he worked in a pool shop as a administrator before starting SGP. His workmanship was so poor, whatever he had done, had to be completely removed and redone.</p> <p>Unfortunately is is still out there doing work for other people and really shouldn't be.</p>
