Yellowwood Park Spar unhappy customer

I went in to Yellowwood park Spar today to purchase two month mate pool floaters. having purchased one here last month at R89. To my horror the pricing on the shelves had gone up by 60%. I approached the manageress asking her how the pricing of a pool floater could rise by so much in a matter of days contrary to the official inflation figure. She told me that "we don't set the prices" in a defensive tone instead of going and checking if the pricing on the item was correct. I returned about an hour later and found the price had been changed on the shelf back to R89. The manageress denied that this had been done and intimated that I had been mistaken and not checked properly as the price had not changed.. I checked properly because I could not believe the price at the time and even checked the shelves for a cheaper price on an alternative floater, there was nothing under R144. This is not the first time I have had pricing problems at this Spar. On many occasions in the past there have been numerous items on the shelves without prices as well as items beyond their sell by date and withered produce. I have complained each time I have encountered this but the poor management of the store still continues. This store has lost a customer, I have had enough.

Why would I lie or not check properly the price of an item? There is no incentive for me to do this which wastes my time querying prices, in this case to no avail. in addition this results in lost sales by Spar. As far as i know it part of the job description and duties of a Spar manager to walk around the store they are managing to check pricing, cleanliness etc.

I told the manageress that I would be posting my experience on hellopeter an she told me that if i wanted to then I must go ahead and do so.

I see that in general Spar hasn't bothered to answer any of the other complaints on hellopeter and can only draw the conclusion that they don't care!
