Westwood a no-no!

Despite this being the closest store to my home, they will not receive my patronage. Firstly, the cashiers are exceptionally rude and hostile. On one occasion in particular, as we arrived at the till, the cashier stood talking to one of the other employees for nearly 10 minutes before scanning our groceries. She was laughing and chatting while we were just standing there waiting for her to ring up our things. My husband eventually said to her "hello!? can you help us please?" and she gave him a rather cheeky glance and said "oh, yes", laughed sarcastically and then started to do her job, all the while staring at us and giggling and talking to the other employee about us. This isn't even the pinnacle of the rudeness that we have experienced there. I also found it rather shocking that during lockdown, they were selling disposable masks in packs of 50 for R800! Their money making was more important to them with their incredible mark-up than providing their customers with affordable PPE. I still have the picture that I took of the price tag on my phone. Safety is also a concern for me in regard to this shopping center, not too long ago, a man was shot and killed by two other men after he had left the bank to draw some money. Security guards were nowhere to be seen and when people asked what happened, many of them just got a simple shoulder shrug as an answer. My family members, who also live nearby me, choose to avoid Westwood Spar for all these exact same reasons, 1) rude employees 2) overpriced products 3) safety concerns It is a pity really, because the store is clean and large and convenient distance wise, however it has been a negative experience nearly each time we have gone there.
