I'm so disgusted with the service from Vredekloof Spar. The ONLY reason why we keep coming back is because it's the only store conveniently close to home. I must just do myself a favor and just drive the extra mile and avoid this Spar completely!!!

Our recent encounter with this Spar We bought a whole cooked chicken on the 21st November 2024. At first when I took the chicken out, I recognized something was not right; it was swimming in basting sauce, and the sauce was so slimy. It didn't smell off; you could only smell the basting sauce. We ate some of the chicken, and we were SO SICK!!!!! We were spending our entire evening and early hours of the morning in the bathroom. My fiancé took the chicken and packaging back the next day and informed them. What a pathetic response! The staff had to phone back and told us the manager is not there Friday as well as the weekend and that he will look into it and give us a call on Monday (no call was received from him; we phoned the Spar just now to ask, and they informed us he has already left). So that just indicates he gives a **** by not even attending to this matter. We were offered R200 back by the staff on Friday; I don't want R200. What must I do with that? My medication was probably more than that, and all the other stuff I had to buy to get this situation under control and just feel normal again. This is an ongoing thing that we have to take back meat that is off and not only meat, but dairy products as well. It is so INCONVENIENT to get home and start cooking just to realize the products are off and that you have to get into your car and drive back!!!!! After a long day at work, you don't want to deal with **** like this. Previously we bought mince that was so smushed, and the consistency was way off; we bought pork and chicken previously that was completely off, and we took it back, and they just said we could take another product. We bought milk and cream previously that was not even past the expiry date, but it was off, and we took it back, and then more excuses (something to do with the fridges and loadshedding). To top it all off on Friday when we bought stuff, their card machines are faulty; when you put in your pin, it punches extra digits and ends up blocking my card (also a recurring problem with this store).

I'm really so DISGUSTED with this place and feel that maybe someone should send the health inspector to do some investigating and also give the manager some tips on how to be a manager. I also work in retail, and I'm also a manager, and this is not ethical at all. When one goes to Spar you would expect quality products, not this.

What if I were someone with underlying conditions and ate spoiled meat and ended up with more serious health issues?

I trust that you will look into this matter and provide some feedback; otherwise, I will take this further.

10/12/2024 Ek moes al intussen 3 keer opvolg oor my epos. Vandag het ek net mooi genoeg gehad. Ek het die winkel gebel vanoggend om met bestuur te praat, die persoon wat die foon geantwoord het het gesê die persoon in "beheer" is net gou besig met n klient hy behoort oor 10min klaar te wees en het my nommer geneem om terug te bel (wat natuurlik nie gebeur het nie). Ek het nou weer gebel om met die einste persoon in bestuur te praat, nie EEN persoon wil met my praat nie, ek kan hoor hoe sê hulle vir mekaar "help jy haar ek is besig" of "wat moet ek vir die vrou sê" en druk die foon dood. Ek het met 5 verskillende personeel lede gepraat, nie EEN kan of wil my help nie. Dit is die slegste slegste slegste diens wat ek al in my lewe ervaar het regtig waar. Ek hoop meer mense sal dit nie net los nie en eintlik iets doen aan die feit dat die plek vrot produkte verkoop en eintlik maar net hulle gat aan die klient afvee. 3 Managers en almal hardloop weg of is nooit daar nie of gaan vroeg huistoe. Pateties!!!!
