Unprofessional Conduct by Spar Mdantsane City Staff

Dear Spar Customer Team

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unprofessional and disrespectful conduct I experienced at your Spar Mdantsane City branch.

On Sunday 02 November while being assisted by a cashier named Sesethu, I was subjected to an inappropriate and hurtful remark about my appearance. The cashier made a comment implying that my spectacles “look like the bottom of a glass bottle,” and even questioned whether my eyes were “alright.” Such remarks are deeply disrespectful and completely unacceptable in a professional retail environment.

I immediately reported this incident to the store manager; however, to my disappointment, the matter was not taken seriously, she didn't even bother about it, she didn't say a word. Instead of addressing my concern with the gravity it deserved, the manager laughed it off. This reaction left me feeling further disrespected and undermined as a customer.

I have always valued Spar for its service and community standards, which is why this experience was especially upsetting. I request that this matter be investigated and that I receive a formal apology from both the cashier involved and the store management. I also urge Spar to ensure that all staff are reminded of the importance of treating customers with dignity and respect.
