TOPS at SPAR Northwold

The staff working at this establishment are absolutely shocking. On the 1st of March 2020 I attended there to buy some items and to claim the deposits on some empty 750 ml SAB bottles. Upon entering the store, I greeted the cashiers and was ignored. I then proceeded to pack the empty bottles in the store’s crates at the designated area. Eventually, after some time, a cashier behind the counter decided to approach me and took a look at the bottles that I was packing in the empty crates. I again greeted her and was ignored again. To my shock, and in the presence of my wife and other customers, the cashier then told me that I had taken bottles that had been there before and that I was now claiming the same as my own. I confronted her and told that this was not the case and I was being falsely accused of theft which is a very serious allegation and defamatory, not to mention an absolutely atrocious way of treating customers. I asked her to call her manager and she defiantly refused stating I should go and look for him. When leaving the store I could hear the cashiers heckling me. I then went to the manager of the Tops at SPAR who works from the SPAR and advised him of the above. He undertook to have a word with her. My family and I, who were frequent shoppers at the establishment will no longer be buying from them. Lest friends and family of mine also get accused of theft, I will be warning them about this establishment. My rights regarding the cashier’s defamatory conduct remains reserved. Employers are vicariously liable for the actions of their staff. Avoid like the plague.
