Spar, almost like checkers, just spelled differently

I’ve been a lifelong customer, doesn’t matter where I lived, I always found the nearest spar, I don’t need to explore for other options, as of late, spar just isn’t the same, the freshness, the quality, the customer service etc, I don’t know what the reason behind it is, I’ve been finding fruit that’s not really in the best shape, milk that clearly tastes off, I just chalked it up to bad luck, never made a fuss, however, today I purchased some biltong, normally the biltong taste great, apart from the fact that they sometimes mix the kudu with the regular biltong, no big deal, but today’s purchase was just plain terrible, I opened the package and this funky smell hit my nostrils, almost like vinegar but not vinegar is probably the best way to describe it, I tasted it, I almost hurled, there is clearly something wrong with it, it’s disgusting and could probably make someone sick, now I’ll have to gather up to courage to do and take it back, people never like when you take things back and complain about their quality, it’s like the walk of shame, also not really eager to keep going to shops when I try to avoid it as much as possible to eliminate the Covid thing, wouldn’t want to pass it on to the loved ones, but it’s crazy that we are the de facto quality checkers for them lately, I don’t know if it’s because Covid, I don’t think they can chalk it up to that, maybe there has been a change in management or just a overall don’t care attitude, you know it’s bad when you start considering going to a checkers?
