Rust inside a stainless steel flask
I puch****d a stainless steel flask from Waterfront Superspar Homewood centre Beach Road Tel number: ********** ; VAT: ********** 864; ECP: 01423 on the 30th of April. We then filled the flask with boiling water. I use the water to make a bottle for my daughter that is only 2 months old. We stay in Johannesburg but went down to George for a wedding which was the Saturday, driving from George to Jhb we stopped at the Spar on the 30th of April to get a flask, because we were going to be on the road for about 12 hours.
On Wednesday evening the 2nd of May 2018 when I filled the flask with water I noticed spots of rust. I was immediately concerned about my daughter because I was not sure when the rust started to develop. It is not so much the refund that is the concern, but the implications of the water from the flask that was use to make my child a bottle, which was a few times from the date of purch****.
When you look at the box it says that the flask does not rust, in my opinion this is false advertising, because we did not expect this flask to rust within a couple of days.
When I contacted Spar, the lady said that I have to come through to Spar for a refund. I then explained to her that I stay in Johannesburg and that I was not from Cape Town. She then said there is nothing they can do. This lady also remembered me, because when we were at Spar we ask for boiling water to fill the flask, which they did.
I still have the till slip, box and flask with me at the moment.
I need Spar to respond to this matter promptly.
Kind Regards Bernadette Horsley
