Provocative and demeaning
A very rude security guard at Sterkspruit Spar demanded we open our handbags so that he could search them. How did we arrive to such practice in what l believed to be one of the decent stores in the country? Why are we being treated like we're in those so called Myfriend stores?
Not him finding Cremora and other things like biscuits, sugar...that l carry to work for my tea break, and quickly jumping to a conclusion that l stole that satchet of Cremora ,saying l should've disclosed what l have before going in. Mind you, they don't have a parcel counter, for everyone to remember to.leave the items on,before getting inside the shop, and he never asked if l had anything that is being sold at the store, before getting in. So it was then my fault that he didn't do his job.
I told him l go to that Spar everyday (l work around that area) and l have never experienced what he was doing to my friend and l,and that he check his CCTV cameras if he believes that l stole that Cremora. I told him to call his manager,he went to their office, came back, saying the manager said he was coming. We waited for more than 15 minutes in the exit area, you can imagine how humiliating that was. We were literally labeled as ******* to the on lookers....
After a long wait,l told him we're leaving, we can't wait that much for someone to verify if the Cremora was indeed ****** or not. I told them where they'll find me if their CCTV does show that l did ***** that Cremora. My friend and l left.
My point is Spar needs to do better than that we will not tolerate being treated like we're some kind of ********s in their store in Sterkspruit. Whoever came up with that idea of searching our handbags need to rethink... That thing is annoying and degrading. Find other means to tighten your security. Also teach your security guards manner of approach
