Poor service delivery
On Friday 9th Aug 2024 my son purchased some Duracell batteries at the Spar in Wesgate Cape Town.
Subsequently we found the batteries to be faulty as we had to use it for his projector remote for a slide show for a funeral. We continued to purchase a cheaper version of batteries at the local store as we had to ascertain if it was the batteries or the projector remote that was faulty.
We then established it was the batteries and I proceeded to Spar the following day to report the incident. Two different supervisors one named Siphokazi came to assist stating they cannot offer a refund on batteries thats opened. I posed the question so how would we know that the batteries is not workimg unless you actually opened it. Therefor I am puzzled why would the shop not refund if the product was opened and found not working. If a supplier does not take the product back from the shop, I do believe that consumers must be made aware of this fact and such should be stated near the area in which you get the batteries that no refund will be offered if this product is opened. Why should a consumer be surprised when they report the faulty batteries. This I will also bring to the attention of the consumer tribunal. When I asked Siphokazi at Spar what point of recourse do we have as consumers in his regard. I was told she would advise the rep for Duracell when he/she pays the store a visit. Upon enquiring when do they see the rep I was told their is no clear directive as to when they visit a store. I then requested that she calls Duracell and have the rep give me a call. She dont have to wait for the rep to visit the store.
To date I have not received any communication from either Spar or Duracell. Hence I am resorting to this platform.
I am seeking anyone reading my complaint to kindly revert to me soonest, with a possible solution.
