Parkand Spar Misrepresentation
I am truly disappointed and upset with the service I received at Parkrand Spar tonight. Firstly, myself, my partner and our two boys went shopping as every other day. This Spar has a small shelve that sells hot wheels. The price on the shelve is R64.99. Which is the same we always pay as that is their monthly "allowance" for doing their c****s. So we get to the till and the cashier cannot seem to scan the barcode on one of these hot wheels. She then proceeded to go fetch another car to scan, after we told her it is marked for R64.99 as that is literally the only price of the shelve. Being cognizant of the fact that she has to scan a barcode to put the purchase through we patiently waited for the cashier who didn't seem to care or be in much of a hurry. She gets to the till and scan a different hot wheel and a price pops up of over R140. We questioned this and it turned into a whole delay and an argument in front of the entire spar as I want to pay what the 'product' is being advertised for. She called management and eventually rung the toy up for R114.99. This I argued too as I am buying two hot wheels which was advertised for R64.99. After a verbal altercation, the management staff came and when confronted about the price, stated that they will put up the other prices on the shelves. He was asked why it isn't on and we didn't get an answer. During all of this the cashier was standing there smiling. I asked the manager to please explain that situation to my two boys, aged 10 and 9. Keeping in mind that one of my kids are autistic and his hot wheel had now been taken from him twice by random people that he does not know as they had to void and rescan and void and rescan. My son bursted out in tears and I demanded they put it through and let me pay to get my kids out of this spar. After all has again been rescanned (the prior scan the hot wheels were all of a sudden scanned three or four times) and I was waiting to pay, the manager came with another hot wheel and stated that he will tell me what we are going to do, they should void the hot wheels and scan in the one he has in his hand and he will pay the difference to which I very rudely responded "its too late now you already effed up my kid" as I just needed to get my boys out of that store. I have to pay what the product is advertised for. If that has changed please enlighten me. It is my right to be compensated for misrepresentation of goods or unsatisfactory services. The Consumer Protection Act states that a consumer may not be charged more than the displayed price for goods or services. This I see as pure theft and how customers are being done in and taken advantage of. I will be taking this further, not just because my kid will now have a two day set back because of random people grabbing his toy the whole time, but also because of my right to pay the price for a product as advertised. I am disappointed in management wanting to give a solution after the trauma has been done to my children and the whole store having front row seats to this ridiculous event that transpired. I will be contacting Spar's Head Office to lodge a formal complaint as well and for a full and proper inspection to be conducted to ensure no one else has to experience something like this. It would also be great if the staff can be taught to not grab things out of shopping bags and from kids. Some kids take years to get to a point where they can even go into a shop like Spar, all of that to be destroyed by cashiers in 5 minutes and causing major set backs not just for the parents but for the child.
